Custom Order Specifics

What's Included

For a custom vest/cape order, this includes two lines of text and one included graphic on each of the 3 panel sections, and up to 5 thread colors. ***IF YOU ARE PURCHASING SOMETHING FROM THE POPULAR DESIGNS CATEGORY, THIS DOES NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU ARE ADDING TO THE DESIGN*** You can also opt to exclude the graphic in place of an additional line of text. You can find the included graphics in the listing photos.  If you need a different graphic, additional text, or additional thread colors, they can be added with the GRAPHICS upgrade. You are welcome to send me your design if you aren't sure which one to order and I'm happy to help.

By default, the vest/cape comes with adjustable vinyl webbing straps which feature a quick release buckle, and a cotton fabric lining. 

 

Sizing

When ordering you can either include the desired panel size or you can enter the girth measurement (the widest part of your dogs ribs) and your vest panel will be approximately 2/3rd that length. Please keep in mind that the 2/3rd rule is for the MAX SUGGESTED SIZE for most body types. Digital Mockups/Proofs

With custom vest, cape, bag, or patch orders, a digital proof is provided for approval before work begins. This is intended to confirm the details of the order and the design, spelling, grammatical preferences, and physical features.

While we are happy to make changes as needed, the proofing process is not really intended to be a "dressing room" to try out design ideas. If you are still at this stage of the design process, I recommend seeking out a vest designer that can help with the creative part of things. 

Changes to the vest shape (which requires the entire design to be rebuilt in a different shape), switching to a different vest design, or more than 5 edits can result in additional fees as I have to pay my digitizer for each proof. This can be minimized by making several requests at once, such as "please change the color of SERVICE DOG to white, change the color of the no contact symbols to red, and change the shape of the loop material to be 1x5 since that is the size of the patch I will be using"

When I provide you with a proof, I try to get as close to the color as I can, but the software that generates the proof image uses different color settings than Photoshop so it is not always an exact match on the fabrics and the software includes factory colors selected for the threads are are using. Additionally, fabric colors can vary slightly from bolt to bolt. The thread is shiny and can result in different hues where the light hits it. Color calibrations on electronic devices vary from screen to screen as well. We provide photos of the fabrics and threads used for the best representation of the actual colors.

While using a template is not required, we understand that some people are able to better express themselves when they can create a visual example of what they have in mind. The following templates are offered with that in mind. Download the order form from the links provided below and design your vest! This can be printed out or done digitally. If there are specific images you'd like, feel free to include them with the form. No copyrighted material, please.

How does the custom process work?

1. Choose which style vest/cape you want.

2. Select which upgrades you want added. 

3. Place your order and include any notes as to how you want the vest to look

4. If you are using a template, please email it to orders@taskingthroughlife.com with your order number in the subject line. 

5. Usually within one business day, I will send you a proof to review. Work on your vest cannot begin until you have approved the design so please make sure that the contact info you provided for social media or email is the best place to reach you. Once approved, changes cannot be made.

6. The clock starts on the production of your vest!

 

Size Specific Limitations:

Vests smaller than 12" panels may have 5/8" buckles which do not include tri-glides.

X-Small: This size is not available in the butterfly shape, able to be made in multiple fabric colors, nor does it have the pockets upgrade. The text style might also need to be altered to fit in the available space. Any changes will be displayed on the proof you will receive for approval. 

X-Large: Due to the size limitations of the machine, if you purchase an X-Large. the vest/cape will not be a solid fabric piece. If you ordered from the POPULAR DESIGNS collection, The design might need to be altered to accommodate the seams.  Any changes will be displayed on the proof you will receive for approval. 

 

Restraint/Pulling

While I make every effort to make the straps are as secure as possible (they are stitched the vest at 3 connection points), there is a lot of research that must be done regarding the strength of the fabric, straps, thread, and even the type of stitching in order to have a specific weight tolerance listed for what you could reasonably expect before the strap, stitching,  or fabric would tear due to being pulled. Because I have not done this research, these are not being sold with the intent to restrain your animal through with the straps or D-Rings or anything that would involve using this item for pulling.

 

Cancellations

We are a small business, and unfortunately, that means that we are charged payment processing fees for both your initial order, as well as any refunds we process.  Because of this, a small cancellation fee (usually around 6.5%) is applied to cancellations to cover this expense. If any graphic work has been done, the fee for the graphic design is also retained to cover what we paid to the digitizer to digitize and create your proof. The fees are only intended to cover the expenses we occurred and do not contain any sort of penalty for your decision to cancel. Cancellations requested after 30 days from purchased with be converted to shop credit and can be used in full towards a future order.
